(Bees suck nectar primarily, although some of them probably collect pollen; flies suck nectar primarily, although some of them probably feed on pollen; observations are from Robertson, Graenicher, and Wilhelm & Rericha as indicated below; Robertson and Graenicher regarded Alisma subcordatum and Alisma triviale as variants of Alisma plantago-aquatica; Robertson probably observed the floral visitors of Alisma subcordatum, as Alisma triviale does not occur in southwestern Illinois; Graenicher's single observation could be either one of the currently recognized species of Water Plantain)
